Ghana’s Masantewaa Emporium makes debut at Runway Dubai Fashion Show

Masantewaa Emporium a Ghanaian beading brand, which specializes in handmade beaded bags and accessories was the only African and Ghanaian brand featured at this year’s Runway Dubai Fashion show.

The two-day event started on the 23rd to 24th of November 2022, at Park Hyatt, one of Dubai’s largest hotels.

The Annual Fashion Show is a multicultural platform that is recognised as the most inspiring fashion event in the UAE and provides an excellent opportunity for fashion talents and brands from around the globe to receive well‐deserved exposure and recognition for their creativity.

The first day of the event was reserved for dinner, press conferences, and the opportunity for designers from all walks of life to meet and form connections and relationships.

The next day, the 24th was an exhibition and fashion show where “we saw many designers showcasing our beautiful Afrocentric African collection that wowed the audience” Said Adelaide Adu Gyamfi, Personal Assistant of Brand CEO
According to her, it is their direction that their Afrocentric brand will put Ghana and Africa on the international map.

“Those are designs and accessories we haven’t seen before in Dubai,” said the majority of the audience after the show.

Masantewaa Emporium has appeared on several platforms in its two years of existence, including Glitz Fashion Show and its magazine, Fashion Connect Africa, Jewelry Box, Fipat Festival in Benin, and their most recent adventure as the only African and Ghanaian on the Runway Dubai Fashion Show platform.

Miss Gyamfi also retreated that the foundation of the establishment of the company apart from passion is their contribution to giving back to society.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility as a company, we train more youth to get hand skills at no fee. Through the faith life enhancement center( FaithLEC) which is a non-profit organization founded and funded by the ICGC Faith Temple at Ofankor over 7 years has trained 300 youth and with approximately 60 acquiring skills in the bead craft.”

The two-year-old brand was named Best Accessory Brand in October 2022 by the Fashion Ghana Awards and Honors.

When asked in an interview with the Ghanaian American Journal on how Ghanaian businesses can improve their presence on the International Market, she said: I believe what we have to do is, massive support for such African brands putting Africa on the map. And by support, we mean patronizing, recommendations, social media followings, likes and tags, support from NGOs and people in the Creative Arts Industry, and support in any little way because no matter what, all these international travels involve money and we need much support.

Masantewaa Emporium this holiday season is offering 25% off all of their products to enable everyone to buy something for themselves and their loved ones. Take advantage of this opportunity to shop at @masantewaabiz this December.

Their showroom is located at Ofankor Barrier, Atta Mills junction.
